2. Please support the B’nai Or Montreal community!

Support B’nai Or Montreal so that we can continue bringing you services and programming that inspires, elevates, and connects!

For the past few years we have been launching our fundraising campaign in September, in conjunction with the High Holidays. Additionally, for the past few years, we have requested and received funding support from the Jewish Community Foundation. This year, we were turned down for funding because, as we were told, we are “too small”. We are not sure how to think about this: what does it mean to be “too small?” We usually have between 20 – 30 people at our Friday night services!

Without this additional funding, it is very possible that we will be unable to continue providing our unique and valuable programming to the Montreal Jewish community and those who affiliate with it. We are so grateful to those of you who contributed last year, to those of you who have already contributed this year, and to those of you who give your donations on Friday evenings. However, these funds are simply insufficient to cover B’nai Or’s expenses, which currently include rent and security at the Y (yes, we are required to pay for these services!), and, from time to time, costs associated with events such as guest teachers. This level of funding does not allow us to provide other services that we would like, such as holiday programming, community gatherings, subsidies for low-income participants, educational programs, and b’nai mitzvah and conversion classes.

To help B’nai Or continue to provide you with the kind of spirituality you have been searching for, to help us continue to inspire you, deepen your purpose, and raise your spirits, please consider renewing your membership or becoming a new member of B’nai Or Montreal. With your support, we can do all this and more!

We have tried to simplify the membership process, and so we are offering you the opportunity to join in several ways.

1. Complete the attached membership form and either bring it to a Friday night service, or mail it with your cheque to B’nai Or Montreal, 6220 Godfrey Avenue, Montreal QC H4B 1K2. Make your cheque payable to “YM-YWHA”, and – this is important! – on the information line at the bottom, write “For B’nai Or Montreal”. You will receive a tax receipt for your donation from the Y.

2. Join through contributing to our crowdfunding campaign, Renewing Judaism with Joy! You can access the campaign online at: http://igg.me/at/bnaiormontreal/x/7520184 .

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Thank you for your interest in B’nai Or Montreal, and for your support of this caring, welcoming community that has made a difference in so many people’s lives. We are so grateful to you!

That’s all for now!

Wishing you a blessed week!
R’ Sherril
