Up-with-Joy Bulletin: July 30

1. Shabbat schedule

It’s time for B’nai Or Montreal’s annual time out.

Our next service will be on Friday, August 21. We hope to see you then, and to have some wonderful news about the High Holydays to share!

In the meantime, for those of you interested in Tu B’Av (Jewish Valentine’s Day) resources:

2. The Cycle of Life

Mark Spires’ Mother z”l. Mark Spires’ beloved mother, Sylvia Bertha Schneider, transitioned from this world yesterday after a brief illness. Mark truly and deeply demonstrated what it meant to be a devoted son, spending many hours and days attending to Sylvia over the past month or so at St. Mary’s Hospital in Palliative Care. The funeral is tomorrow at Paperman’s, 2:00 pm. Ha-makom yenachem otach betoch she’ar avlei tzion virushalayim. Mark, may you be comforted among all mourners. May the Holy One of Blessing support you and protect you in your grieving. May the angels accompany Sara Brauna bat Tsarna Hinda on her heavenly journey.

Oscar. Our security guard Oscar and his wife welcomed a new baby boy into their family last Sunday. B’nai Or will celebrate this new beginning with a gift for Oscar and his family next time we meet (Friday, August 21). I know you will join me in congratulating Oscar on this wonderful occasion when we see him!

Fran. Please pray for continued healing for Fran who fractured her elbow a few weeks ago. She is on the mend, but prayers for healing are always welcome! Here’s a beautiful healing chant (chanting begins at 2:00):

Wishing you all many blessings for a summer of love, peace, rest and inspiration.
Looking forward to seeing you later this month!
Off to the ocean on Sunday!
R’ Sherril
